I've enjoyed reading a lot of the purple goldfish examples out there (glad Gene is #1), and thought I'd add my own obscure example. In Moscow, when you are "asked" to pay a bribe to the traffic police and you don't have enough money on you, they will kindly drive you, in their police car, to the nearest ATM so that you can "pay your fine".
