This example of marketing lagniappe pops
#354 in Project is submitted by Owen Clark:
“Graeagle Hardware, a Mom and pop hardware store in small mountain town of Graeagle, CA, offers popcorn to customers as they browse.
Part of creating a pleasant atmosphere for tourists and locals that differentiates it from big box hardware store. Litmus test is my future mother-and-law stops in and shops for hours every time she’s in Graeagle. Meanwhile she won’t set foot in her local Lowes.”
Today’s Lagniappe (a little something extra) – Mr. Bean has some popcorn at a horror movie. Very funny:
Lagniappe defined: A marketing lagniappe, i.e. purple goldfish, is any time a business goes above and beyond to provide a ‘little something extra’. It’s that unexpected surprise that’s thrown in for good measure.
How do you stand out in the sea of sameness? How do you win repeat customers and influence word of mouth? Are you Giving Little UnexpectedExtras?
