The King vs. Love:  Will the King Reign Supreme or Shall Love Conquer All?

Today is a big day in the short history of The Purple Goldfish Project.  We’ve reached #200 in the quest to get to 1,001 examples of marketing lagniappe and we’re getting a jingle two jingles.  That’s right . . . two jingles.  Back in December I purchased a jingle from LoveJingles.  Love and his team are using a pricing model made popular by the ‘I Wear Your Shirt’ guys.  About 10 days ago I received a tweet from Your Daily Jingle.  YourDailyJingle also started jingling on January 1st.  Brian wrote a jingle to challenge Love to a JINGLE Off on January 27th.  I graciously accepted and here we are.

Let’s look at the submissions from our Jinglers:

Brian King – Your Daily Jingle

Love Harnell – Love the Jingles

Let the Voting Begin (you can only vote once and voting ends on Wednesday, February 3 at Midnight EST) :

COME ON PEOPLE GET OUT THERE AND VOTE FOR THE LITTLE GUY. JUST LOOK AT THE VIDEO WHO HAD TO WORK A LITTLE HARDER. I SAY LETS GO BRIAN THE KING OF THE JINGLE!!!!!

3 David Foster January 27, 2010 at 8:38 pm

Very nice idea - King rules - But love could get a job on sci fi theater 3000. great job guys!

4 rachel January 27, 2010 at 10:24 pm

Lol @ guy with the midi-keyboard. It seems like someone should work more on putting a little extra lagniappe into his videos - isn’t that what the purple goldfish project is all about?

5 Danny January 28, 2010 at 7:27 am

Down with the King ……..give some Love o the Jingle :-!!!!

6 Jenny Finch January 28, 2010 at 10:29 am

Brian King you are the King of daily jingles!! Love your stuff! Keep it coming!!!

7 Stan Phelps January 28, 2010 at 12:06 pm

Thanks for the feedback.
Danne obviously sides with Lenny Kravitz.
Jason likes to shout on behalf of the King. David has a job reco for Love if the jingle thing doesn’t pan out.
Rachel is calling out the King’s video editing skills (in fairness - it’s tough to do everything as a one man band).
Danny had some strong words in his remarks (which I edited).
Jenny loves Brian and is a mean softball pitcher.

The love jingles are a little short on content after you take away 30 seconds of pre and post whistling. I vote for yourdailyjingles.

These guys are very talented.
But, give Micky his guitar, and he’ll blow them away.
I say all the way with Brother-in-law, Mick.
How ’bout a jingle off jingle off?
Brother John

Brian Kimg you are the King of daily jingles!! Love your stuff! Keep it coming!!!

11 Jack Campisi January 29, 2010 at 3:26 pm

Oh man, I am going to have to watch both a few more times. King has great lyrics and is easier to understand, but Love has great production values, a cool sound… and a shark.

12 Tom Haidinger January 29, 2010 at 7:39 pm

First of all, YOU are insane Stan! Even considering developing a jingle for your project shows you’re a little nuts but you know how to think outside the bowl. OHHHHHH !!!!! That must be a sign! My vote goes to Love. Though the techno beat is still in my head from his competitor, I couldn’t understand his lyrics (and the dancing in his underwear was a little disturbing). You gotta love that line from Love… “think outside the bowl”. Brilliant!

13 Brian King January 30, 2010 at 1:25 am

Hey Tom, just for the record, it’s true I WAS wearing underwear, but also happened to be wearing khaki pants over them. Hope that eases your mind a bit :-)

14 Phil Gerbyshak January 31, 2010 at 8:48 am

Can you mix the two up? I like the amazing videography of the second one, but I can’t get Marketing Lagniappe out of my head after listening to the first one.

And a super midi keyboard…Dang, that’s TIGHT!

Can I vote for both?

No…OK, I vote for #2. Nice job on both though. Definitely made me laugh.

15 Stan Phelps January 31, 2010 at 1:24 pm

Thanks for the vote Phil. I agree . . . rather tough to choose.

16 Keith Green February 2, 2010 at 1:10 pm

Stan-
Hilarious stuff, great work by both by professionals. (That reminds me of the “Ferris Bueller” line when the valet takes Cameron’s dad’s car from them at the parking garage: “Relax, I’m a professional.” And Ferris says, “A Professional What?”).

OK, I’m joking, those were both well done and fun to watch. I kept the vote state side… loved the 80’s hair to go along with the music/lyrics altough I loved the bowl/shark by LoveJingles.

17 Stan Phelps February 3, 2010 at 9:14 am

Thanks Keith. The shark seems to be a popular item.

18 Gene Willis February 3, 2010 at 2:12 pm

tough vote…
Brian King puts together more than jingle, it’s a friggin’ song!
Love Harnell on the other hand pulls in some solid production mechanics, but this may have been the reason it kept crashing only half way through.
so who got GW’s vote?
well, without the full tune, i have to give it to the King.

Here’s something similar. It might not qualify as an up-front lagniappe, but it sure left a positive impression. It was R.U.L.E.S.
The Tom Quick Inn in Milford, PA has a nice practice… If any part of your dining experience is less-than-hoped for, the manager is most likely to serve you dessert “on the house”. Nice.

21 Rob February 4, 2010 at 3:52 pm

I loved em’ both, but I may say I loved Harnell just 1 gill more!
Nice Job, Mate!
